Obi, Exams and Rank
"The rank you wear is the rank you have the potential to be." CT. Patterson, Hachidan
Shihan Patterson's words above hold as true today as the day he first put them to paper many years ago, and as true as the day he first heard them spoken to him by O'Sensei Hironori Ohtsuka in Iwakuni, Japan, many years before.
Belt exams are an important element of your training, and are required for your advancement as a student. Whether a tip exam towards your child earning his or her next belt, or a formal exam for an adult student striving to reach Yonkyu, Bushido Dojo Exams are demanding, rewarding, and challenging, forcing each student to reach deep within themselves to work a little harder, try a little more, and show a little more spirit. In other words, to grow. Not just as a student of karatedo, but as person.
Regarding exam fees: All formal Adult and Youth Belt Exams from Hachikyu (Gold) through Sankyu (3rd Degree Brown) are $20.00. There is no fee for Youth Tip Tests.
Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) fees include USEWF Federation fees, and International Renmei Fees for Japanese Menkyo (Certificate).
