Sensei Jimmy Edwards started Wado Karate in July of 1968 under the instruction of the late Mr. C. T. Patterson.  At that time classes were held in Melrose Bushido Dojo.  On March 11, 1970, and during a visit to Nashville, Wado-Ryu’s Late Grand Master Hironori Ohtsuka spot promoted Jimmy to 3rd Kyu brown belt. Born in 1962,  Sensei Rucker began his karate training at Bushido Dojo in 2000.  He was tested and promoted to Sho Dan in 2004, to Ni-Dan in 2009, and San-Dan in 2012. Sensei Rucker is a frequent and successful competitor at the U.S.E.W.K.F. tournament and most recently the 2009 & 2010 Senior Division Black Belt Kumite Champion and 2009 Senior Kata Champion. Born in 1976, Sensei Spillers began martial arts training in 1983 at Bushido Karate School in Inglewood, Tennessee. She was a successful competitor as a youth in both kata and kumite. As a youth, she was a Gold Medalist in Karate at Tennessee Sportsfest.  She has served the Goodlettsville, Tennessee Police Department as a Dispatcher in the Communications Center and currently as a Director of a parks and recreation program.
